Every pet below is named in NC’s global launch press release as a newsletter reward. Pagati requires no choice — every subscriber gets it. The other four are the pick-one options, and their published bonuses differ enough to make the choice real.

Creature types and bonus lines come from the community pet database for the KR/TW build — not yet confirmed for the global client. The five names and the reward rules are official (NC press release, verified 2026-09-28).

What Pets Do: Companion on Foot, Mount When You Ride

The defining trait reported for AION 2’s pet system is the dual role. A pet follows your character like a companion in most MMOs — and when you set out to travel, the same creature becomes the mount you ride, instead of the two being separate collectibles. That framing comes from press coverage of NCSOFT’s official developer video and from KR/TW launch reporting, and it is what makes the reward pets’ mount bonuses worth reading closely: a Mount Ground Move Speed line on a pet is also a speed line on your everyday travel.

The second reported layer is growth. Community guides from the KR/TW service describe pet bonuses that strengthen as the pet’s affinity level rises from 1 to 3 — the same progression visible in the published bonus rows for the four choice pets, which list separate level 1, level 2 and level 3 values. What exactly raises that level in the global client is not yet confirmed.

How to Get Pets in AION 2

At global launch there are two confirmed routes, both from official channels: the newsletter reward — sign up on the official AION 2 site before launch and receive Pagati plus your choice of one additional pet, redeemable in-game at launch — and Founder’s Pack contents, where NCSOFT’s own Ultimate pack promo shows the Black Dragon pet as a pack companion.

Beyond the launch rewards, the KR/TW service reports a capture system as the main pipeline for expanding a collection. The short version from community guides: hunt a field monster repeatedly, collect what it drops, and register the creature as your pet once the requirement is met — with further hunting raising the pet’s affinity level and its bonuses.

AION 2 Pet Creature Types

The community pet database sorts pets into creature types, and the KR/TW community writes about three main groups — wild/feral, nature and intellect types — with different bonus flavours. The five launch pets cover three of them: the two Stamina pets are nature type, the mount-speed pet is feral, the sprint-stamina pet sits in the database’s “trans” bucket, and the guaranteed Pagati is in its “special” bucket alongside pets like the Black Dragon. Type names below follow the community database, not official NCSOFT terminology.

Which Newsletter Pet Should You Pick?

Pagati needs no decision — it arrives with the sign-up. The real choice is the second pet, and the published bonus lines make it a three-way decision (the community database lists Konutin Worker and Black Smoke Murute with identical bonuses, so those two are a cosmetic pick). Values below are from the KR/TW build and may change for the global client.

• You ride everywhere and want raw speed: Papis — the only option with a Mount Ground Move Speed line, scaling to +3.
• You sprint in long stretches: Silver Blade Rotan — cuts Mount Sprint Stamina Cost, scaling to +30.
• You want survivability numbers: Konutin Worker or Black Smoke Murute — identical Stamina (to +900) / Critical Hit Resist lines; pick the look.

The Full AION 2 Pet Roster

NCSOFT has not published a full official pet list for the global client. The community pet database for the KR/TW service tracks roughly 200 collectible creatures — field monsters from the starting zones upward, spirit variants, and a small “special” bucket of named pets like the Black Dragon and Sky Whale. Per-pet pages on this site fill in after the October 5 global launch, when the global client’s own list, hunting grounds and bonus values can be verified; until then, only the five confirmed reward pets have pages, and anything published elsewhere about the full roster is borrowed from the KR/TW service and may describe a different build.
