Gathering lives outside that gate: it works from the early levels, and some collectibles can only be reached with wings. Profession outputs were not detailed in the build, so this page sticks to what was observed.

Crafting sits in the endgame batch: the playtest menu gates the five professions at level 45, alongside the Abyss, Arena and Battlefield. The names below are the official menu strings as read in the build — one of them corrects a common assumption:

The name worth flagging is Handicrafting: the global menu uses it where most modern MMO rosters would print Tailoring. Sites listing a Tailoring profession for AION 2 are carrying an expectation over from other games — the build did not show one.
AION 2 gathering: how it works
Gathering is the life skill you will actually touch before endgame — it was live from the early levels, well outside the 45 gate. Two descriptions of its feel circulate, and we print both rather than picking one: the playtest reporter called it exactly like Lost Ark’s gathering — that is his personal comparison, community-reported — while other guide sites describe it closer to the first Aion’s gathering, with success and failure checks on each node. Which one the live game resembles is verifiable only after October 5.
One wrinkle belongs to flight: some collectibles can only be gathered with wings out, and the maps carry floating, feather-shaped pickups you have to fly to reach. Wings are worth leveling for gathering alone — the stamina numbers and upgrade path are in the AION 2 flying guide.
Cooking and Alchemy
Alchemy and Cooking are the two consumable professions of the five. Neither had its recipes or outputs detailed in the playtest build, so this page will not invent them — what carries over from the series convention is that alchemy covers potions and cooking covers food buffs, both marked Based on the first Aion’s conventions; community-reported.
One playtest footnote feeds both: consumable-style items observed in the build included timed buff scrolls and auto-use potion settings, which is the shape of the demand these professions serve — steady, repeatable consumption across all eight classes in the AION 2 classes roster.
What to craft first
Honestly: nothing is verifiable yet. NCSOFT has not published profession outputs for the global client, the build did not open the crafting menus, and any site ranking the five professions by profit today is guessing. The series convention ties Blacksmithing to metal weapons and Armorsmithing to metal armor, but that is convention, not a confirmed recipe list — treat it as background, not advice.
What the build does support is a preparation plan: gather from the early levels, bank everything until 45, and spend the first crafting hours on whatever your own gear needs — enhancement materials come back on swap, so experimentations are recoverable. AION 2 crafting FAQ
Why can't I craft before level 45 in AION 2?
The level-45 gate for the five professions is what the playtest menu showed — the same batch that gates the Abyss, Arena and Battlefield. The shop and subscription gates in that batch looked like test-build artifacts to the playtest reporter, but the crafting gate is the only data available. Verify against the live menu after October 5.
What does Handicrafting make in AION 2?
The official global menu lists it as one of the five professions — the name replacing the Tailoring slot players expect from other MMOs. What it actually produces was not detailed in the build; in the first Aion's convention Handicrafting covered bows, staves and accessories, but that is series history, not a global-client fact.
Can you gather while leveling in AION 2?
Yes — gathering was live from the early levels, outside the 45 gate that holds the crafting professions. Bank what you collect while leveling and the professions will have a stockpile waiting at 45. Some collectibles can only be reached by flying, so maxed wings pay gathering dividends too.
Are crafted items better than dropped gear?
No data exists yet. What is known: blue gear is the epic tier and yellow is unique, with world bosses feeding the unique tier — whether crafted items can reach those tiers, and at what cost, was not shown in the build. Not yet available — AION 2 global servers launch on October 5, 2026.
