AION 2 Spacetime Rift Timer — Next Portal Opening in Your Time Zone

AION 2's Spacetime Rift opens every 3 hours at fixed clock hours — 00:00, 03:00, 06:00, 09:00, 12:00, 15:00, 18:00 and 21:00 UTC on the community-reported global schedule. Each event runs one hour, and the portal only lets players in during the first 10 minutes. The timer below counts to the next window in your local time.

When is the next AION 2 rift?

Spacetime Rifts — the portal event that opens enemy territory for PvP dungeon runs and stronghold clears — do not spawn on a random timer. They follow a fixed 3-hour schedule anchored to the clock: eight windows a day, starting at midnight server time and repeating every third hour. Because the anchor is fixed, the rift you miss is never a mystery — the next one is always at most three hours away, and the timer above reads it straight off the clock.

The table reads in UTC so it converts cleanly: your browser's timer above shows the same windows in your own time zone, whether that is 00:00 UTC = 8:00 PM EDT in New York or 9:00 AM KST in Seoul. The schedule is community-reported, not officially confirmed — NCSOFT publishes no rift timetable — and the cadence has changed before (Korean servers ran longer early intervals before settling on 3 hours). If a patch moves it again, this page is the first to record it. The rift is one item on the server's shared clock — the daily reset, Shugo Festival and world bosses are tabulated on our AION 2 event timer.

How the rift cycle works

One rift window has three phases, and knowing which one you are in matters more than the countdown itself:

Spacetime Rift window phases
PhaseLengthWhat you can do
Portal entryFirst 10 minutesEnter the rift through the portal — after this the gate closes
Rift eventRemaining ~50 minutesPvP dungeon runs, stronghold clears, field bosses inside enemy territory
Cooldown2 hoursNothing to enter — the next window is 3 hours after the last opening

Two mechanical details from the same community sources: each portal holds 240 players, and when one fills, another portal opens elsewhere on the map rather than the event capping out entirely. And the rift leads into the opposing faction's territory — Asmodians push into Elyos zones and vice versa — which is why the event doubles as open-world PvP and not just a PvE rush. Our AION 2 PvP page covers that faction-war side of rifts; this page only keeps the clocks.

How this rift timer is calculated

No server queries, no account login, nothing sent anywhere. The schedule is a fixed 3-hour cycle anchored to the clock, so the timer computes it in your browser: it takes the current time, finds the next 3-hour boundary, and counts down — then flips itself to an “entry closes in” clock for the first 10 minutes of a window, and to an “event running” state for the rest of the hour. Upcoming windows render in your device's time zone; the schedule itself never changes, so the page stays static and loads instantly.

The honest caveat: the anchor — which exact clock hour the cycle hangs on for the global service — is read from community trackers, not from NCSOFT. If the first rift of your server's day lands an hour off from the table above, the 3-hour cadence still holds; only the anchor shifts, and that is a one-line fix we roll out the day it is confirmed.

Global vs KR/TW rift times

AION 2 runs three services — Korea and Taiwan since November 19, 2025, and the global service since October 5, 2026 — and each keeps its own rift clock. Community reports put the Korean windows about an hour ahead of Taiwan's, and neither matches the global schedule this page tracks. Every regional tracker that shows “server time” numbers is telling you the same thing in a different way: the cycle is 3 hours everywhere, but the anchor is set per service. If you play on KR/TW, do not plan around this page's times; if you are choosing where to play, our AION 2 servers page covers the region split, and our AION 2 countdown keeps the launch-moment clocks by zone.

What to do when a rift opens

Community guides treat rifts as one of the highest-value windows of the day, in roughly this order:

  • Regional quests. Seven daily quests per faction tie into rift activity — clear them while the window is hot and the objectives complete themselves.
  • Sealed Dungeons. Rift windows open the gate runs into enemy-held dungeons; what is inside and what it drops is catalogued on our AION 2 dungeons page.
  • Strongholds and field bosses. The same window is when contested spawns are cleared — bring your group, expect the other faction to bring theirs.
  • Abyss Points. Rift PvP feeds the Abyss rank grind, which in turn gates the gear progression our AION 2 tier list tracks once rated play data lands.

All of the above is community-reported from launch-week play on KR/TW and the global Advance Access window — none of it is confirmed by NCSOFT documentation, and we relabel anything that changes once global launch play settles.

AION 2 rift timer FAQ

When does the next Spacetime Rift open?

On the community-reported global schedule, a rift opens every 3 hours at fixed clock hours — 00:00, 03:00, 06:00, 09:00, 12:00, 15:00, 18:00 and 21:00 UTC — eight windows a day. The timer on this page counts down to the next one and shows the upcoming windows in your device's time zone.

How long does a Spacetime Rift stay open?

The event runs for one hour per window, but the portal only accepts players for the first 10 minutes. Miss the 10-minute entry window and the rift is closed to you even though the event inside is still running — the next chance is the following 3-hour window.

What happens if a rift portal is full?

Each portal holds 240 players. When one fills up, another portal opens elsewhere on the same map, so a full rift does not end your window — it moves the queue somewhere else. Community guides recommend checking the map rather than idling at a capped portal.

Are rift times the same on Korean and Taiwanese servers?

No. The KR and TW services run their own rift clocks that differ from the global schedule — community reports put the Korean windows an hour ahead of Taiwan's. This page covers the global service only; do not read its times onto KR/TW characters.

Is the rift schedule officially confirmed by NCSOFT?

No. NCSOFT has published no rift timetable on its official channels; the 3-hour cadence, the 1-hour event and the 10-minute entry window come from community trackers (Questlog, Game8) and player reports as of October 5, 2026. If NC ever posts an official schedule, this page updates the same day.
